Facts and Figures
Approximately every 660 out of 100, 000 people will suffer a concussion in Canada each year. As compared to the United States who will see 1.5-3.8 million concussions each year.
Although concussions are more likely to be seen in girls, this prevalence may be due to the higher report rates in the female athlete population.
As many as 90% of concussions go unreported (Kerasidis, 2015).

1.Football
2.Hockey
3.Rugby
4.Soccer (more likely in Girl’s)
5.Basketball (more likely in Girl’s)
*Note: Wrestling and Lacrosse are also at higher risk of concussion
On January 1, 2011, Sidney Crosby was hit on the left side by David Steckel (Washington Capitals) and on January 6 of that same year, he received a second hit from defenseman Victor Hedman (Tampa Bay Lightening). To Crosby, the results were devastating. He returned in November of that year, but was out with symptoms once again in December. It took Crosby fourteen months to recover to what he and his medical team believed was 100% (Primeau & Goulet, 2012).
This was when the world finally stood up and said "No more. What can we do?" despite all of the readily available information.
