Welcome to Lakehead Concussion Clinic!

The Lakehead University Concussion Clinic provides an inter-disciplinary service dedicated to the assessment and treatment of sports-related head injuries, offering quality pre and post-concussion care.

 

Dr. McKee has a special interest in sport-related concussions and offers a weekly clinic on Monday and Thursday mornings. All of the other staff have received extra training in managing sport-related concussions and are available by appointment.

Our Team

Dr. Dave McKee

Emergency/Sports M.D

Dr. Mckee was born and raised in Northwestern Ontario. He trained at Queens University and the University of Calgary. Dave practiced emergency medicine in Thunder Bay for nearly 2 decades and has recently joined the Sports Medicine clinic at Lakehead University. Dave was also the team doctor for Canada’s World Cup Alpine ski team.

Joanna Sanchez
HBK / CAT (C)

Joanna is the Head Athletic Therapist for Lakehead University Athletics. She graduated from the Kinesiology program at Lakehead prior to completing her Athletic Therapy Certification at Mount Royal College in Calgary. Joanna has served the Thunder Bay sports community in events such as the World Junior Baseball Championships, CIS and OUA championships, along with high school and elementary school sports. She has been the Head Therapist for the Thunder Bay Border Cats baseball club since its inception in 2003.

Katelyn Zen
HBK 

Katelyn is the Concussion Clinic Coordinator for Lakehead Sports Medicine Clinic. She graduated from Lakehead's Kinesiology program in May of 2016 and has also completed a graduate diploma in Professional Kinesiology.  She is an alumni of the Lakehead University women's basketball team where she successfully competed in five seasons.
